Media Production
This is a pre-requisite course for Video Production. It is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors who have passed Media Analysis.
Note: Students who have poor attendance, who skip, or who get suspended should seriously consider dropping this class. Participation grades are primarily based on attendance and in-class participation within a group.

Unit 1- Procedures, Cameras, Editing, Storage
This is an introductory unit to procedures and basic skills you will need to have complete mastery of in order to have continued success in this class.
SWBAT compose a variety of camera shots and angles after learning elements of shot composition
SWBAT handle basic functions of a camera and basic menu settings

Unit 1 Assessment - Skills quiz which must be passed with 100% will be given at the end of this unit. Retakes allowed until 100% is achieved

Unit 2—6 Shot Story: Pre Production, Production and Post Production
SWBAT plan all video, sound, and text for a 6 shot story to share something about themselves, their life, etc.

SWBAT work with a partner as both a camera operator and an on-camera talent for a video

SWBAT edit a basic, cuts-only editing using Premiere Pro

Unit 3—Public Service Announcement (PSA)

SWBAT create a 30-60 second PSA which will air on THTV.

SWBAT plan, write, record, and edit building on techniques learned in Unit 1.

Unit 4—Graphics
SWBAT Create graphics for broadcast television keeping in mind parameters including font and color choice and title safe margins.
Create two jpeg graphics for THTV Morning Show: ONE for THTV Weather and ONE for THTV Birthdays

Unit 5—News Package
After analyzing various styles of news reporting,
SWBAT conduct research on a news topic of their choice.
SWBAT engage in pre-pro, prod., and post-prod., of a news package that is relevant to the THTV viewing audience.
SWBAT will understand the different components of a news package and will use content specific vocabulary while they engage in production.

Unit 6—Green Screen Production
SWBAT use chroma key features in Premiere Pro to create a green screen video.

Unit 7—DVD Authoring
SWBAT author a DVD which is a compilation of the Media Production work from the semester
50 points for DVD Authoring
25 points for individualized participation within group

Final Exam
Multiple Choice, Short Answer, Fill in the Blank Final Exam

Marking Period 1 = 35%
Marking Period 2= 55%
Final Exam=10%
Total = 100%
